Platform Art Wall
営団地下鉄（現・東京メトロ）南北線は、日本で初めて地下鉄にホームドアが採用された。しかし、ホームで電車を待つ人々の閉塞感が高まることが心配された。そこで私達は、ホームの対向面にアートウォールというシステムを提案した。色彩豊かな連続した芸術的にスポンサードされた壁面である。地上部の上屋はパンタグラフをモチーフにして空中に浮かび、都市景観的に軽い存在感の屋根をもつ。
Platform Art Wall
The Namboku Line was the first example of in Japan where platform doors were adopted for use in subways. However, because the use of such doors creates a rather claustrophobic atmosphere on the platforms, we proposed a scheme for decorating the tunnel walls beyond the doors to try and alleviate this. Companies were asked to sponsor the production of richly colorful murals. For the station roof, a suspended train pantograph motif was used to create the image of a light cityscape.
